Bow Riverkeeper's team of staff and volunteers make the difference:
Danielle Droitsch, Bow Riverkeeper and Executive Director
Danielle has been working on river protection for twelve years. She worked for American Rivers in Washington DC where she worked to improve environmental standards for hydropower operations. Danielle also founded the Tennessee Clean Water Network, a statewide rivers organization focused on implementation of the Clean Water Act. Danielle's experience and legal background make her ideally suited to participate in the emerging water strategies here in Alberta. Danielle makes her home in Canmore, but her job takes her throughout the watershed.
Carla Stevens, Program Coordinator
Carla heads up the Friend of the Bow campaign. Carla Stevens is a landscape ecologist with a specialization in integrated land use and watershed management. Her research experience includes both natural and social science realms. Her Master's thesis "A Methodology for using Ecological Infrastructure in Municipal Land Use Planning and Infrastructure Management" outlines a spatial methodology for identifying networks of critical natural areas for watershed function amidst residential development pressures. Carla has a background in environmental science and knowledge of land and water interfaces. She brings a well-rounded knowledge base of natural and social issues to the Bow Riverkeeper team.
Jenaya Webb, Research Associate and Coordinator
Jenaya holds BA and MA degrees in environmental anthropology from the University of Alberta. Her graduate research focused on historical and cultural ideas of nature and wilderness in Jasper National Park and their implications for protected areas management. Jenaya's research at Bow Riverkeeper focuses on the human history of the Bow River and shared governance issues. She also works on Bow Riverkeeper's outreach objectives.
Meghan Beveridge, Policy Associate
Meghan focuses on water policy for the Bow River watershed and across Alberta. Meghan completed a Masters of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo focused on Alberta's Water for Life. In previous life chapters, Meghan was an editor, publishing assistant, and an environmental educator. Originally from Alberta, Meghan also has a BA and BSc from the University of Calgary.
