Waterkeeper Alliance
River Valley CommitteeWe are a member and supporter of the River Valley Committee (RVC). The RVC champions the environmental, heritage, aesthetic, social and economic values of Calgary's rivers, creeks, wetlands and valleys. Alberta Water CouncilWe participate in the Alberta Water Council (AWC) whose primary objective is to help oversee the implementation of the Alberta Water for Life Strategy. We are an active member of the AWC's Water Conservation, Efficiency, and Productivity Project Team. We also work with other non-governmental organizations who are involved with other aspects of the Strategy including the development of a wetlands policy, an analysis of policy issues and gaps, the development of a framework for watershed management. Prairie Water Strategy GroupnewWorking with the Prairie Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Saskatchewan Environmental Society, and the Manitoba Eco-Network, we will focus attention over the next two years to raise awareness about the need for more coordinated water management across all three prairie provinces. We will work together with these organizations to address future water shortages. Together, we will examine human needs, ecosystem needs, source water protection, natural flows, and equitable distribution between users. We wish to increase dialogue about the role that demand management offers toward more sustainable and responsible water management in the vast prairie region of Canada. Alberta Ecotrust Foundation
