Bow Riverkeeper Calls for Moratorium on New Water Permits for Bow and Oldman RiversMay 6, 2006A Calgary Herald opinion-editorial published May 6th by Bow Riverkeeper Danielle Droitsch called on the Alberta government to place a moratorium on new water licenses for the Bow and Oldman River. In October 2005, a draft South Saskatchewan River Basin plan proposed a moratorium on new licenses for the Bow and Oldman Rivers. Bow Riverkeeper called on the Alberta government to adopt this long overdue plan and begin addressing the existing over allocation of these rivers in favour of sustainable water management and protection of aquatic ecosystems.
