Big Bow Float

In the summer of 2005, we paddled the entire length of the Bow River. The Bow River runs over 650 kilometres from high mountain glacier to the dry prairie of south-eastern Alberta.

We called our trip the Big Bow Float: A Centennial Canoe Voyage. Our Big Bow Float web site documents our trip. It includes lots of great photos and trip logs from our trek. Witness the diverse beauty of this river as it pushes through ever changing landscapes and ecosystems.

We also have a movie that documents our trip and highlights the issue of water scarcity - particularly in the lower reaches, where large water extractions for the irrigation agriculture industry can leave the river quite dry.

Our movie is available for loan on DVD. We also have periodic showings throughout the Bow River watershed. Check out the Big Bow Float Movie area of our web site for more information.
